The Drowning Night mare.

By Shari Hooper

Chapter 1. The meeting.

“Mum, it’s only to meet the older kids who can help you, it’s not a fancy dinner party”, I said. I’m Chenna Diddums. I am just starting secondary school, mum is making a fuss, because my class is going to meet the 7th and 8th forms. My mum wants me to wear a dress! I find it… childish.
“I know, but isn’t the dress sweet,” mum said. “IT’S NOT A DINNER PARTY AND I’M NOT THREE!” I shouted.

One the way to school.

I finally didn’t have to wear the dress. It was an awful colour, lilac!
“BEEP, BEEP!” my little brother Joshua shouted. “Shut up Josh!” I said. I tied my hair up with a silver hair band, which matched my long black hair.
My school was massive, there are lots of secret ways and passages. We’re not allowed to know them until we are in the 4th form. We arrived and I saw my best friend Lily waving and shouting my name. “Chenna!” Lily shouted. She ran and ran, but fell just in front of my feet.
“Wow, I’m Queen Diddums, bow for me,” I said acting like a queen, “Give me your hand, Lily Flower,” I helped her up.
“Puff ball Chenna!” Lily said. We walked into the school.
“Wow, the renovation is done!” Lily said.
“Hm, is the library done?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” Lily said.

Chapter 2. The murdering meeting.

“Good morning Form 1!” said our new teacher Miss. Van Dijk, she’s our dutch teacher but also teaches form 1.
“We will go to the meeting, after I introduced myself” she said, Lily looked at me in despair.
“I am Romy Van Dijk, I am twenty-five years old and I don’t permit any rules being broken in this class.” I raised my hand, “Yes Chenna,” Miss Van Dijk said.
“We don’t even know the rules.” I said, everyone laughed at the teacher.
“Be quiet class, Chenna, how dare you put the class against me.”
“I didn’t,” I said.
“Aw well, let’s go to the meeting,” she said.

There were chairs set in the hall. The Hall was built in the summer holidays. It’s huge!
“Welcome 1st, 7th and 8th!” the head teacher said, “ we are here for safety reasons because the 7th and 8th form should help you!” Lily raised her hand.
“Yes… Lily,” she said.
“Shouldn’t the teachers help?” Lily asked.
“No… yes, but the children, almost adults, know a bit more because I bet they’ve gone through the sane things as you will!” “Ok,” Lily said.
The head mistress clapped her hands. “Janitors, take the chairs away!” she shouted. The chairs slid back and a disco ball popped out of the ceiling. “Wow,” I said, “Pretty modern.”
“I need to go to the toilet, coming?” I asked. We walked to the toilets.
“I go first,” I said. I went in. I was about to take my belt of but we heard knocking on the entrance of the toilet. “Come in,” Lily said. The person switched off the lights, I locked the door, and I couldn’t see anything of course. I heard a click of something. Suddenly a loud bang.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Lily screamed.
Another bang went off, I heard Lily fall on the ground. The person put on the lights again and ran out. I felt something wet, it was red. “No, please, no!” I said. I unlocked the door and right in front of me, was Lily, blood all over her. I screamed. The teacher of the second form came. “What the…” it was my brother; he had passed his teaching exams. I started crying. I sat beside Lily, “talk to me Lily, talk to me!” I shouted. My brother, named Jake, took me by the hand. “Don’t worry, let me feel her chest,” he said. He walked over to Lily and felt if she was breathing, only slightly. “She’s breathing very slowly,” he said. “What, don’t tell me that!” I shouted. The head mistress came in. “What’s all that noise for?” when she saw Lily, she fainted.
“We have to find out who did it, and I will!” I said.

My other best friend came over. “Jo Chenna, want to go play tennis?” he asked.
“Not really,” I said softly, I burst into tears.
“Hey, Hey, I know what happened to Lily.”
“Ok, ok, but I want to ask you something, do you want to try to find out who did it, I’ll use all the money I saved for a laptop.” I said.
“Ok, sure, but only if you come play tennis with me.” He said.
“Fine!” I whipped the extra tennis racket out of George’s hand.
“Who’s last at the tennis courts is a fat pig,” I shouted.
I ran as fast as I could, but George wasn’t behind me he was again in front. He ran straight in, “Ha, I win” he said. Oh god, again I was the fat pig.
We went in to the changing rooms to get our tennis gear on. “Who’s first out pf the change rooms gets a trophy!” I was first. “Yeah.”
He gave me a pack of gum. “What a trophy,” I said.

We started playing. A half an hour later we stopped, it started raining.

The next day Lily was taken to the hospital. The bullet was taken out.
“Open ze door,” male’s voice said. “I am inzpector Monkey Monty.”
“What are you doing here, we don’t need an inspector,” I said, oh no, my temper was getting high again.
“I don’t need zese kidz arund me,” the inspector said.
“These kids, these kids, we’re maybe the smartest ‘kids’ in the class, and we can be weird, but I’ve got news for you, we’re not kids!” I shouted.
“Take zem away!” he shouted.
“No, they’ve got to help with the search,” a scientist said.
I took the bullet and looked through the microscope. I scanned in the details and I found out that the bullet had been used twice. It was used to kill Lily’s mum 5 years ago.
“The bullet was also used to kill Mrs. Suddings, there are still slight marks on it,” I said. I thought there was a clue, yes, there was. This killer obviously doesn’t like the Suddings’.

Chapter 3. The truth.

“Chenna, the gun that had been used to kill Lily and Mrs. Suddings has been found,” George said.
“I want to check Danny Blue, he wears a gun, and he wore two the other day,” I said, “and Thomas.”
“Ok,” he said.

I knocked on from 7’s door.
“May I have a word with Danny please?” I asked.
“Yes,” Miss. Cune said.“After that I need… Thomas”
“Ok,” she said.
I took Danny to a little room to ask questions.

“Where’s your second ‘decorating gun?” I asked.
“It’s at home, it broke yesterday when I got caught in the school fence, and it broke so I took it home!” he said.
“How did you find out that Lily got shot,” I asked really feeling like a detective.
“Well, duh, it’s big news, our teacher said it.”
“I’ll ask your teacher that, I need to know who did it and why!”
“Ok,” he said.
“Thomas, you’re next,” I said.
“What have I got to do with it?” he shouted.
“Take it easy,” I said.
My mobile rang. I picked it up.
“Lily can talk!” I heard from the other side of the phone. “I’m coming George!” I shouted.
“What, and my interview?!” Thomas shouted.

I ran into the hospital.
“What Lily, can you hear me?” I shouted.
“Yes… I can’t… talk well!” she said. “You’ll be ok!” I said.
“Where’s that gun you found?” I asked.
My brother was there.
“Shouldn’t you be teaching?” I asked.
“Day off,” I don’t know why but my brother was acting suspicious.
I put the bullet and the gun under the microscope. There were fingerprints. There was a tag on it; which read J. Diddums! There was J. Diddum’s fingerprints on it! I remember, Lily’s mum got killed by J. Diddums. The killer was:

J
A
K
E MY BROTHER!

“Why did you do it Jake?” I shouted in surprise to everyone.
“What… what… how do you know.” He asked.
“You murder Lily’s mum as well you fool!” “It all comes together Jake!”
“I didn’t want to do it!” he paused, “I did it for… Inspector Monkey Monty!”
“WHAT!” I shouted.
George had called the police in the meantime, sirens loud.
“You little (beeping) child!” the inspector said.
They were both sent to jail.
I at my age had solved a case!
“You are a fine junior detective!” the police man said.

The next day, the fake inspector told u why he did it.“I hate zose Suddings, if I killed zat Lily and I dizcuvered ze ‘fake’ mystery, I’d be rig!”

He was sent to jail for 12 years.

This was all my last nights dream.
